Foundry

Foundry Overview
The foundry facilities are used to pour castings in bronze and aluminum. The student shops support both sand and lost wax castings. The foundry also includes a finishing area where students can polish, grind and sand their projects. The welding and sheet metal facilities are combined in a single room. Students use this room for a variety of welding processes, from fine jewelry brazing to aluminum TIG welding. The sheet metal equipment is capable of cutting .060" thick steel sheet metal and .1" aluminum sheet. The foundry's plastics room is used primarily for injection molding and vacuum forming.
